Welcome to eat stories like grapes! I am Clara, and I’m glad you stopped by. This is a safe place, a quiet place, a simple place. I will tell you stories. I will share my favorite poems and articles with you. I will let you know my thoughts on simple living, minimalism, and living mindfully. I hope we will be fast huckleberry friends.
I’d love to hear from you. Tell me a story, ask me a question, or make a comment here.
Let’s get you started with some of my favorite stories + articles:

“‘I’ll want to hear,’ Samuel said. ‘I eat stories like grapes.’”
John Steinbeck, East of Eden
My trifecta of literary favorites:
A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man, by James Joyce
East of Eden, by John Steinbeck
The Count of Monte Cristo, by Alexander Dumas
Unless otherwise noted, everything posted here is my own original work. Most of the photos are from old family photo albums, from back when photos were actually put in physical albums. I’ve gotten permission to post them.
This blog started as my little passion project, and at first I put money into it and yielded no return, which was fine, since I love to write. I’ve recently decided to try to make a little income from it, so you will see some links, and if you make a purchase from these links, you will help make it possible for me to continue to spend my time writing stories for you while supporting my family. I want you to know that, as a minimalist and an ethical/eco-conscious consumer, I am extremely picky about which companies and products I choose to spotlight. Some bloggers in the world of minimalism (bloggers that I respect – don’t get me wrong) make the claim that “advertising sucks”… well I personally don’t believe this. I believe that a lot of advertising sucks. But advertising for ethical and eco-conscious companies helps direct consumers to more intentional ways of participating in the economy. I believe that advertising, when not overdone, and when not “sneakily done” can effectively change the world for the better, by shedding light on those companies that are doing things right. I know this is much more of a monologue than you expect for an advertisement disclosure, but I figure, if you ended up on my blog, you are likely someone that cares about these things. I will not sell my soul for the sake of a few dollars.
